Default Jets sign kicker Folk

I hope this doesn't spell the end for Jay Feely, who has been very good for us over the last two years. It might be insurence incase we can't come to a long term deal with Feely.

Jets sign PK Nick Folk ยป

By Rich Cimini

With incumbent Jay Feely due to become an unrestricted free agent, the Jets have signed former Cowboys PK Nick Folk to a one-year contract, according to ESPN.

Sebastian Janikowski's mega-contract with the Raiders (four years, $16 million) has raised the bar for kickers and could be complicating negotiations with Feely.

Feely has been a key player for us. Replacing him with Folk would be a big step back in my opinion.

Feely is undoubtadley the better kicker, but Folk is a good 5 years younger - but then again, age isnt a big factor with kickers.
I think this move was all for the FA money, Feely has a contract worth $1.5-2mill, if he were to sign for a new team, the Jets would then be able to sign a FA of equal value, and Folk is going to be a LOT cheaper than Feely.

Could turn out to be a smart move, but personally i don't like it

Feeley will be back, this is just making room for potential FA's.
Remember we have the final 8 rule over us, meaning that we have to let go before we 'buy'.
