Default Next Year

So on offense we have Moreno and Decker as the major people in their contract year this year, if Peyton calls it quits this year, I doubt we be able to keep either. So what do we do, I reckon we use Ball at RB, and maybe draft a WR or a versitle Julius Thomas like TE who can play both positions with our 2nd/3rd round pick? Or maybe we try and snatch someone in free agency or try to engineer a trade?

There are a number of contracts to look at.
resigning some free agents
Restructuring/releasing some expensive ones.

The latter helps with the former...

resigning FAs
DRC
Moreno
Decker (has a rapport with Manning and should stay around)
Beadles
Ayres
Phillips

restructure or release
Dreesson (emergence of J.Thomas at TE makes Joel expendable)
Kuper (little value in keeping him due to injuries)
Bailey (paid a lot for little return. DRC might be his replacement. Could return on a restructure deal)

Also consider that there will be some FA pick ups as well as draft picks to come in.

big deciding factor is Manning. No reason for him to call it a career given what it took to return from injury. He would have gone then. I think he will play as long as he can be effective.

Manning will stay on, Moreno and Decker also. Really hope we resign Beadles, can see Phillips leaving and getting a big contract somewhere else. Hopefully Champ restructures, if not time to go.

Personally I think this will be the final season for Champ. Can't see us resigning Robert Ayers. Would love to see us hold onto Decker & Moreno. Peyton will be back next season

I also cant see Champ staying past this year, especially with him finally making it to a Superbowl. In regards to manning, he loves the game to much to retire, that's with or without winning the Superbowl this year. The only thing that would stop him being around next season would be the if the specialists advice him to call it a day with his neck with the outcome to be revealed in the off season. Fingers crossed

There is no way we keep Decker. He will get too much in FA, and Broncos have told him to come back to them with his best offer. My bet is he ends up in New England. I would like to see him sign a 2yr deal, and play in Denver until PFM retires. However, it's such a small window, and you never know, he could break a leg next season and never get the same deals again. He should take the money.

Moreno will probably command too much also.

I would like to see them try and restructure Champ, if not they have to release. $10m is too much to take on for a player who had the worst year of his career last year, and the signs aren't great that will change.

DRC is a key re-signing, as is Beadles. Wouldn't mess about with the offensive line too much, they need to protect quite a valuable asset!

News has also come out that Pot Roast wants a new deal, he definitely out-performed his salary last year.

I would release Dreessen and Kuper, and wouldn't sign Ayers, unless it was on a prove yourself short-term deal.

Phillips depends on the money again. Would like to see a cheeky offer for Jared Allen myself, but think he might be too expensive.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Decker go to the Jets. I've completely changed from my original post, don't think Moreno stays either. Think Champ will restructure, still unsure on what we will do regarding Beadles and Phillips. The latter cos' he might expect a handsome pay check. Ayers hasn't done enough, and Dressen as well.

I'd love Allen but he is going to command big bucks!

It's gonna be a big free agency for us. Decker and Moreno are nailed on to leave. I think we keep Phillips and Beadles. At the start of the season if you asked me whether we'd sign Woodyard I would have said definitely but he was only a bit part player for the 2nd half of the season and i'm sure a team will get him as a starter. DRC will get a good offer from us and I hope he stays. Ayers and Dreesen to go. Champ will restructure I think. He only has 1 year left in the league I think and he'd want to finish his career in Denver.
It seems like our mindset is wait for players to get offers and either match them or get close to matching them and hope they choose to stay to go for a Superbowl.

Replace Decker in the draft, maybe a 2nd/3rd rounder. I think we'll get a middle linebacker in FA. Draft a pass rusher in the 1st and a corner in the 2nd/3rd.
