Thanks Distantpiper!

Just posted a new blog post - my thoughts on the final preseason game.

Now that the Redskins have cut down to 53, I am working on a blog update about that (hopefully to post tomorrow morning) - a few surprises!

Thanks again to those who read the blog/follow @readoptionblog on twitter.

My reaction to the Redskins initial 53 man roster (offense first).

Latest Read Option blog update - was a tough loss to take there on MNF, but we can take heart that we didn't get blown out.
Bring on the Packers on Sunday!

Unfortunately the score doesn't show that in reality, they were blown out badly on Sunday. That game should have been 33-0 at half time. Only poor execution by Vick prevented this from happening and teams with big leads always let the foot off the gas when well ahead so I disagree with your reason for being cheerful in that they weren't blown out.

By contrast, poor execution by the Redskins allowed it to get out of hand.
Poor tackling, inaccurate passes, turnovers, etc.
If the Eagles took their foot off the gas, more fool them, had we recovered the onside kick we would have had the opportunity to steal that one - the Eagles were gassed and it showed.

We played 1 horrible half of football, the likes of which we are unlikely to for a loooong time and people are forgetting the team we have from last year which has been improved upon.

I agree.
But we can't let it happen again. We left ourselves with a big mountain to climb and i take hope from the fact that we nearly did.
But first half performances like that against the better quality teams and we're in trouble.
In my opinion the D has to step up. Some of the tackles - or should i say lack of - we embarrassing. However if we can get them going and making some stops we should be ok.
