They've done well drafting in the top 3 rounds recently, so if there's no value in round 1 I'd be happy to do a sensible deal.
I'm struggling to remember the last time we did a deal on draft day

IIRC they tried to deal into the 1st round to get Dalton but the Saints wanted too much.

Cheapskates even on Draft Day!

I think it was the Packers. It worked out ok in the end though.

nfl.com has got a 8 (experts) way mock draft.

pick 17 - 3 predict Jenkins , 1 predicts Gilmore, 3 x Trent Richardson, 1 x Andre Branch

pick 21- 2 predict Lamar Miller, 1 x Peter Konz, 1x Melvin Ingram, 1x Dennard, 1x Gilmore,1x Jenkins, 1x Kendal wright

There's some real disparities , for example in relation to DeCastro.
They all project him differently - from picks 9 to 29!

Really don't want Jenkins.
From what I am reading, on the back of his off-field indiscretions he moved to Div2 football where apparently he didn't pull up any trees.Perhaps due to lack of motivation, but whatever, after the solid Green/Dalton picks of last year - Jenkins would be a move in the opposite direction for me.

Where did you read that about Jenkins in DII? I heard the opposite, that he looked far and away the best player on the field whenever he was on it. Would be interested to read the other side of the argument.

Only in reading the various messageboards- he was variously described as only the 4th best CB in D2,lacking in motivation etc. Also got himself suspended (again) there.

That said, in fairness, they were just individual opinions.
Looking in more detail -all expert opinion have the 'consensus' that he is potentially a shut-down corner if his mind is right. They do apear to lean heavily on the evidence of his time at Florida.

A risk-reward pick.
One summary was that he would be a great pick for a very good team but potentially dangerous for a poor team.
I think we are closer to the first definition so he may work for us.

Dre Kirkpatrick as reportedly been arrested for possessing dope.

This will probably drop him down the draft a bit. Cue hundreds of sites mocking him to the Bengals because we 'don't care' about red flags.

So, now Jerome Simpson has been indicted (& facing 1-5 yrs), WR becomes another draft need.
Any good ones going to be available in rounds 2-3 or are we going to have to use one of the 1st rd picks?

I've been taking a look at the FA listings for 2012 and they are very interesting.

There are loads of direct replacements for Simpson (think FA might be better than drafting for him because we're already so young at the position):

I also really like going after Erics Weems for the return game.

I have a funny feeling Livings comes back (although he's a FA as well), and they draft high for the other.

If they go a different route, I hope they take an established leader but moreso in the Secondary. They'll need to sort out what to do with Nelson, but unlike last year there aren't loads of big name safeties around (not that we'd sign that money away anyways), and there are some really duffers in that list as well.
