Kobe had demanded a trade from the Lakers.

RIP the LA Lakers. I'm really not surprised. We were forever looking for trades with guys like Ron Artest, Carlos Boozer and Baron Davis. The fact that none of them came to LA when it mattered shows a slight lack of commitement by owner Jerry Buss. I mean think about it. Rather then talk to Kobe he is found Drink Driving in San Diego County. Not happy.

Found this on the ESPN website I'll take Kobe's word

Quote:
He (Buss) met with me at the Four Seasons Hotel here [in Los Angeles] across from Fashion Island, which is now the Island Hotel," Bryant told Smith. "I went up to his penthouse suite. [Buss] looks me dead in the face and says: 'Kobe, I am not going to re-sign Shaq. I am not about to pay him $30 million a year or $80 million over three years. No way in hell. I feel like he's getting older. His body is breaking down, and I don't want to pay that money to him when I can get value for him right now rather than wait.

"This is my decision. It's independent of you. My mind is made up. It doesn't matter to me what you do in free agency because I do not want to pay [Shaq], period.' "

"Dr. Buss said that," Bryant told Smith. "And I haven't said anything for years because I've always felt like folks were just looking to create controversy. Now I know. I realize what extent [the Lakers] will go to, to cover themselves.

The Lakers management could've got Kobe some help ages ago, yet he's left with a pretty crap team to try and lead. And he has no chemistry at all with Odom, which makes him average at best compared to what he could be.

Ouch, good night Lakers. He would fit well with the Knicks. We could have him, Carter, Marbury, Francis, Nate and Crawford in the back court. Seriously, wouldnt suprise me if it happened though. :-\

Thing is though if they trade and I'm pretty sure it will happen The Lakers won't recieve maximum value for Kobe so they have to look for the best value available. Still stunned and flat out disappointed in the Lakers ownership for not even make an attempt to improve the supporting cast. Guys like Kwame Brown and Radamovic just don' cut it

Danny 17: Your suggestion is pretty funny. I very much doubt Carter would get you to the next level and his money demands are laughable 3 years 60$. I don't think he's worth that

Is that provided that the Lakers give Kobe up for free?

There is no chance he'll get dealt to the Knicks.

Chicago might be an option, with Hinrich and Gordon going to the Lakers, in some sort of deal.

That's one of the many rumours I've heard so far, and it's one of the more logical ones.

I think the Chicago link sounds the most likely at the moment.

The Suns is also a likely destination although I can't imagine we would trade him to our divison rival. I'd like who we would be getting Marrion and Barbosa but to our Divison rivals. No Chicago would be the more likely destination

BTW just read this on SI

Quote:
I don't want to go anywhere, this is my team," Bryant told KLAC radio. "I love it here. I called Phil, man, he and I talked, it was an emotional conversation, but he just said, 'You know what, Kobe? Let us try to figure this thing out.'
