Part of the reason the CL group stage is so dull for me. Even as a neutral there used to be a huge allure of seeing two teams meeting that rarely happened before, that's definitely gone now.

The problem is the majority of teams that qualify are the same every year, which usually end up in the same seeding pot, so the chances of seeing the same teams in the group stages is greatly increased.

AC Milan's starting XI this weekend cost zero pounds in transfer fees.......no wonder the English, Spanish & German's now dominate European football

Any team with Sulley Muntari or Phillipe Mexes in it aren't going to make the likes of Real & Munich quake in their boots.

Aside from Juve & perhaps Roma, Italian football can't compete when it comes to contracted players who are available for transfer.
Italian Clubs - Transfers Summer 2014

As a fan of Italian football back in the day, its sad to see.

not a Muntari fan then and Mexes (although i dont rate him) has been at the top clubs for most of his career.

i agree it wont make Real quake but its still a not a bad looking side.

its been on a downward sway for a while and a lot of the big deals used to come from there but i guess its the economy or just owners becoming sensible.

Torres might bounce back
plus Menez and Honda are good players, Armero has been good in that league and at the WC.

maybe, maybe not i'd say the Prem is bigger global brand and the tv money situation seems unlikely to stop in the next deal, after that who knows.

but the bigger Italian clubs used to get most of the tv money (similar to the way it is in La Liga) and then they changed to a shared model.

Good to see him back playing for Dortmund, never been able to work out why United couldn't get him playing.

Also another good win for the Bianconeri last night with goals from Tevez and Marchisio.
